Chairman, Principles for Responsible Investment
Dr. Wolfgang Engshuber is the Chairman of the PRI Advisory Council (PRIAC) & PRI Association (PRIA). Dr. Engshuber was elected Chairman of PRIAC as well as PRIA in January 2011. He is an ex officio Board member of the UN Global Compact.
After a career spanning 25 years, Dr. Engshuber retired formally from his executive position at Munich Re in October 2011, although he will continue in an advisory position. As President, Corporate Centres, Munich Re America for 13 years, he oversaw key corporate departments, including Investments, Integrated Risk Management, Human Resources, IT, Claims, Legal, Internal Audit and Marketing. He is also a director of MEAG New York, a company that manages North American assets of Munich Re.
Before moving to the United States in October 1998, Dr. Engshuber was employed by Munich Re, where he was a member of the executive management responsible for global asset management.
Dr. Engshuber earned his Master of Law degree in 1982 and a PhD in Economics in 1986, both from the University of Munich. He also studied at the London School of Economics and worked for the International Monetary Fund and the German Ministry for Developing Countries.
