Al Binger
Energy Science Advisor, Caribeean Community Climate Change Center
 
Dr. Al Binger currently serves as Energy Science Advisor for the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), located in Belmopan, Belize, and Science and Technical Cooperation Advisor to Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).  He is also a representative of the AOSIS on the Technology Executive Committee of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Dr. Al Binger is a research scientist with almost 30 years experience and training in diverse scientific areas, including Chemical Engineering, Biophysics, Agronomy, Renewable Energy, and Climate Change. From 1997-2005, he was Professor and Director for the University of the West Indies Centre for Environment and Development (UWICED), the regional institution in the Caribbean designated to provide research, training and information related to developing capacity on environment and development issues affecting small island states. Since 1993, he has been a Visiting Professor at Saga University, Japan, where he is involved in research on Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). Prior to joining UWICED, he was Director of the Global Environment Division to the Rockefeller Foundation in New York from 1992 – 1997.
