Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish

Mr. Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish is currently the Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development in Vienna, Austria, as of November 1, 2003.
Mr. Al-Herbish joined the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in 1962. He served as an Economic Advisor to the Saudi government and held a variety of accounting and economic consultancy positions. He served as Assistant Deputy Minister from 1982-1990.
Mr. Al-Herbish served as Chairman of the board of directors of the Arabian Drilling Company, a joint venture Company between Petromin, Saudi Arabia, and Schlumberger, engaged in drilling oil wells in the Kingdom and the Arabian Peninsula from 1990 - November 2003.

Mr. Al-Herbish was also appointed in 1990 as Saudi Arabia 's Governor (Deputy Minister's rank) at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), a position he held for 14 years.
He served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of Saudi Arabian Texaco Inc., a Delaware Company, currently operating an oil and gas concession in the onshore partitioned neutral zone in northeastern Saudi Arabia from 1995 until the end of 2003.
Mr. Al-Herbish also served as Director of the Arabian Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC) from 1982-1992. AMPTC is owned by member countries of OAPEC. He also served as a Director to the Saline Water Conversion Corporation from 1987 – 1990; the Jeddah Oil Refinery Company from 1988 to 1991; as well as the Saudi Company for Precious Metals, a joint venture company between Petromin and Boliden of Sweden, operating the Sukhaibrat Gold Mine from 1985 - 1995.
Mr. Al-Herbish received his BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Cairo in 1966 and his Master's in Economics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1974.
