SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE THE UN SYSTEM IN ACTION

1. JOBS

There are currently no job opportunities within the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP)

For job opportunities in the UN System please see the following links:

WARNING -- FRAUD ALERT: The UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) is aware of various correspondence, being circulated via e-mails, web sites, regular mail or fax, falsely stating that they are issued by, or associated with UNOSDP and/or its officials.

These scams, which may seek to obtain money and/or in many cases personal details from the recipients of such correspondence, are FRAUDULENT and have NO connection whatsoever with the United Nations or the United Nations System of organizations.

Please be advised that the United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process and that only vacancies posted on the present website or on the UN Careers Portal are valid UNOSDP career opportunities. Those posted with the return address of staffing@unosdp.org are NOT United Nations approved vacancies, and will therefore NOT make you eligible for employment with UNOSDP.

We strongly recommend that the recipients of solicitations, such as those described above, exercise extreme caution in respect of such solicitations. Financial loss and identity theft could result from the transfer of money or personal information to those issuing such fraudulent correspondence. Victims of such scams may also report them to their local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action. UNOSDP cannot be held liable for any such loss and/or theft.

2. INTERNSHIPS

UNOSDP offers internships throughout the year to young qualified people who have undertaken an undergraduate degree in international relations, law, development, peace, sports management, or a related discipline and with a particular interest in sport for development and peace and who are currently enrolled in a post-graduate or higher-level degree.

Internships are offered for a period of 3-6 months and are unpaid. If you are interested in working as an intern at UNOSDP please apply via specific UNOSDP internship vacancy announcements advertised on the UN Careers Portal. For information, you may also transmit your application including a cover letter and a CV to UNOSDP to sport (at) unog.ch indicating if you have applied via the UN Career Portal. However, please note that only applications submitted through the UN Career Portal and the associated Inspira recruitment system following an official vacancy announcement can be considered.

UNOSDP does not provide any financial support for interns. However, the internship office at the UN Secretariat has compiled a list of funding opportunities, which can be found here.

The Internship Programme of the United Nations is in no way connected with recruitment for employment with the United Nations. Interns wishing to be considered for employment with the United Nations, even if otherwise fully qualified, are not eligible for consideration for employment either during their internship or within the six-month period immediately following the end of their internship.

3. VOLUNTEERING

If you are a highly dedicated, committed young professional/student with a passion for sport for development and peace, you may wish to volunteer in the area of sport for development and peace. While UNOSDP does not offer volunteer opportunities, many of our partner organizations in the field of sport for development and peace do.

If you have an undergraduate degree, several years of work experience and are interested in long-term volunteer opportunities in developing countries, you may be eligible for entry into the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) programme. This programme contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers, including experienced UNV volunteers, throughout the world.
