Afridi to Hit Hard Against Drugs in New Role as UNODC Goodwill Ambassador 18 January 2012
Vienna (UNODC) – Pakistan cricket star Shahid Afridi has been appointed UNODC National Goodwill Ambassador in recognition of his outstanding sporting record. Both batsman and bowler, Afridi is a talented all-rounder who from 2009 to 2011 was captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in various formats of the modern game.

Vienna, Austria (UNODC) – It may look like an empty room but this was an experimental E-Lecture organized by staff from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna together with leading international experts in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice to reach out to thousands of people worldwide on the topic: "Sport, Violence and Crime Prevention".
Speaking the language of sport 1 September 2009
More than 100 girls and boys aged 14-17 came together in late July at the Olympic Training Centre in Spała, Poland, for a one-week camp to play sports and learn social skills. While coming from various linguistic backgrounds, the participants spoke one language: the language of sports.
Secretary-General Ban praises Global Sport Fund initiative 3 December 2008
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has pledged his support for the Global Sport Fund initiative. Mr Ban praised the partnership between UNODC and the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) in remarks to media representatives after his recent visit to the UNODC office and the QOC.
