64th Annual UN Deparment of Public Information Non-Governmental Organizations Conference Bonn, Germany 3 - 5 September, 2011

Visa Regulations for Participants of the 64th UN DPI/NGO Conference in Bonn, September 2011

Who Needs a Visa to enter Germany?

You need a visa if you are not an EU-Citizen.
A visa is not required for semi-annual visits of up to three months for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement.
Please consult this table of countries whose citizens require/do not require visas to enter Germany.

The visa always has to be applied for by the person who intends to travel.

Where to go?

Immigration formalities will be facilitated at German embassies or consulates.
Please check the following web-site in order to find the competent German mission.

When should I apply?

Participants are advised to contact the German mission as soon as possible.
We strongly recommend that you apply for your visa at least 6 weeks prior to the Conference as we cannot guarantee that applications received later than 14 days before departure will be processed in time. Please note that in most missions appointments are necessary to file an application.

How to apply?

As a rule, applicants must submit visa applications, together with all necessary documents, in person at the German mission located in their country of residence. In order to avoid time-consuming requests for additional information or documentation, applicants should consult the website of their respective mission well in advance of their departure date to find out about visa procedures and which documentation is required.
Visa application forms can be obtained from the mission free of charge (in the local language). Applicants may also download the forms. The forms submitted must be original versions in the appropriate language of the mission in question. Application forms may also be downloaded free of charge from the website of the relevant mission.

What does it cost?

Applicants presenting a Confirmation Letter from the UN Department of Information (DPI) which states that you are a registered participant of the Conference will receive their visa free of charge. (If you are not able to present a Confirmation Letter, the general fee of 60 Euros charged for all types of visas, applies.)

Other entry requirements:

Applicants must be able to finance his/her living and travel costs from his/her own funds or income. Documentary evidence must be provided of travel health insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euro valid for the entire Schengen area.
