Campaign against Landmines
Jody Williams, one of the keynote speakers at the Opening Ceremony of the 62nd Annual DPI/NGO Conference “For Peace and Development: Disarm Now!”, which was held in Mexico City, 9-11 September 2009, discussed the U.S. position on the Mine Ban Treaty in the Tuesday, 1 December, edition of the Los Angeles Times. Williams was the founding coordinator of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, for which she was awarded, along with the organization, the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.
