Registration for the 62nd Annual DPI/NGO Conference in Mexico City has begun. Representatives of eligible NGOs who wish to participate must register through their Headquarters no later than 1 August 2009. The instructions and guidelines on registration are provided below. Invitation letters have been sent to all NGOs eligible to participate in the 2009 Conference. If you have not received an invitation letter, please send an e-mail to: registration62dpi@un.org.
Registration Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible to register for the 62nd Annual DPI/NGO Conference, representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) must be:
- associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and/or
- in consultative status with the United Nations through the Economic and Social Council or
- working with the Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA) or
- NGOs that are not affiliated with any of the groups mentioned above are welcome to register.
Please note that a confirmation letter will be provided only after a vetting process has been completed by either national governments, the UN Information Centre in your area, or for groups associated with the issue of disarmament, the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs.
Registration Instructions and Guidelines:
- The Headquarters of each organization is responsible for the registration of its participants. Registration forms must be submitted by the Headquarters/President together with a letter of endorsement containing the signature of the President or Chief Executive Officer and a photo of each participant, according to specifications. Registration forms will not be accepted after 1 August 2009. One registration form must be filled out for each individual participating.
- A maximum of 5 persons may register per organization. Organizations that register at least one youth participant (age 18 to 24) will be allowed an additional representative.
- Please allow at least two weeks for the form to be processed. Confirmation letters will be sent via e-mail to eligible participants. The confirmation letter must be presented upon arrival at the Conference, together with the participant’s passport. Mexican nationals may present the Mexican National Identity Card in lieu of a passport.

In order for a registration request to be processed, it must include ALL of the following:
- completed registration form,
- photo according to the specifications attached
- endorsement letter from your organization's Headquarters.
All of the items above must be sent TOGETHER, IN ONE E-MAIL MESSAGE, to registration62dpi@un.org no later than 1 August 2009. We are unable to accept registration materials that are faxed or sent via the post office.
Participants Requiring Visas:
The Mexican Government will assist with the visa process. Participants are requested to send as soon as possible the duly completed visa application form, together with a copy of the confirmation letter, to the Mexican Government at the following address: rsalinas@sre.gob.mx.
There is a processing fee of US $36 which must accompany the application.

Please, mention of your participation in the Mexico Conference so that your data can be forwarded to the relevant Mexican Embassy or Consulate where you apply for the visa.
Participants With Special Needs
Participants with special needs (use of wheelchair, etc.), are requested to contact: soluciones.62dpi@gmail.com prior to the Conference for further details.
On-site Registration
Upon arrival at the Foreign Ministry in Mexico City, you will be required to present your confirmation letter, together with your passport or Mexican National Identity Card, in order to participate in the Conference. You will be issued a badge, which must be worn visibly for the duration of the Conference.
Note: It is highly recommended that participants register on Monday, 7 September or Tuesday, 8 September prior to the opening of the Conference.

- Monday, 7 September 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, 8 September 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Registration hours on the Conference days:
- Wednesday, 9 September 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday, 10 September 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Friday, 11 September 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
