Welcome to the Water Smart campaign!

On the occasion of World Water Day, Monday 22 March, the UN Office to Support the International Decade for Action 'Water for Life' 2005-2015, which implements the UN-Water Decade Programme on Advocacy and Communication, launches the Water Smart campaign. The Water Smart campaign aims at raising awareness on the water and sanitation crisis around the world and giving a voice to those who have none.

Today, in the 21st century, 884 million people worldwide still rely on unimproved water sources for their drinking, cooking, bathing and other domestic activities, and 2.6 billion people still do not have access to toilets, latrines or other forms of improved sanitation.

We make a call to you to help spread the word by putting one of the following banners on your website or by using other materials such as posters, tee-shirts or desktop wallpapers. On this special occasion, the main focus of the campaign is on water quality, as it is the theme for this year's World Water Day, but all along the year Water Smart will continue to call attention on different water and sanitation issues.
