TRAVELLING TO ZARAGOZA

  • Flights: There are direct flights to Zaragoza (with Ryanair and Iberia) or via Madrid or Barcelona. Please follow these links to check for the airlines arriving and leaving from Zaragoza Airport:
  • Train: There are connections to Zaragoza Delicias train Station by High Speed Train (AVE) from several Spanish cities, including Barcelona (Sants Station) and Madrid (Atocha Station). Find information on schedules and prices on Renfe website. Please be aware that travelling from airports to train stations may take one hour at least.

In Madrid: From the airport in Madrid to the train station (Atocha Station) it is better to take a taxi, cost around 30 euros.
You can also use subway (Metro) from the airport (Barajas) to the metro station "Nuevos Ministerios"; from there, the best way is to take the commuter train link from Nuevos Ministerios to the Atocha Station. Please follow the sign "Cercanias". Additional information is provided at the Metro Madrid website.

  • Weather: In winter Zaragoza daytime temperature can be around 15° Celsius and can drop to 0° Celsius in the evenings. At this time of year, although it is light and sunny. Foggy or windy days are not unusual.

  • Visa arrangements: Participants are responsible for obtaining appropriate entry visas to Spain, if required by Spanish Authorities. Please ask the Spanish Embassies or visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The official invitation letter and the Conference Program may be used for visa purposes. The Secretariat of the conference remains at your disposal to provide administrative support if needed (contacts: Sara Delgado and Mónica Garcés).

  • Security issues: Zaragoza is a very safe city, even at night. However, we would expect all participants to take the appropriate measures and be responsible for their own security, as recommended by the United Nations.

  • Foreign exchange: Currency in Spain is Euro. We strongly recommend that you exchange your money at the airports or train stations as it may not be available in your hotel or downtown. Local taxis, other transportation and restaurants will not accept any other currency.
