UNRWA es, con diferencia, la Agencia de Naciones Unidas de mayor envergadura en Oriente Medio. Su personal esta compuesto por más de 29.000 trabajadores, prácticamente todos ellos refugiados, que trabajan directamente en beneficio de sus comunidades, como profesores, médicos, enfermeras y trabajadores sociales.
