Mr Hassan Ahmad Al Laham
Graduate’s Training Programme
UNRWA Social Worker
Beach Refugee Camp, Gaza
With deep regret UNRWA announces the death of Mr Hassan Al Laham, who was killed in crossfire during factional clashes in Gaza on 12 June 2007.
Hassan was born in August 1982. He completed his secondary education in 2001 and graduated from Al-Azhar University in 2004 with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology.
On 20 January 2007, Hassan was employed by UNRWA as a social worker within the framework of its Graduate’s Training Programme. He continued in this professional capacity until his tragic death while off duty on 12 June.
Notwithstanding his short period of employment within UNRWA, his colleagues and supervisors attest to his tireless efforts and the excellent service he provided to the refugee community in Beach Camp.
Hassan was a committed individual, who was always ready to respond to the call of duty as was evidenced on several occasions when he was required to work extra hours during the state of emergency in Gaza in the month of June.
UNRWA wishes to express its condolences to Hassan’s wife Amal and his one-year old son Ahmad, as well as to his extended family, who continue to live together in the Beach Refugee Camp.
