Husn Camp

Husn camp, known locally as Martyr Azmi el-Mufti camp, was one of the six "emergency" camps set up in 1968 for 12,500 Palestine refugees and displaced persons who left the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a result of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. The camp is situated 80 km north of Amman.

The refugees and displaced persons were initially accommodated in tents on an area of 774,000 square metres. The Agency's plans to provide stronger tents to withstand the harsh winters were dropped in favour of the construction of prefabricated shelters, and 2,990 were constructed between 1969-1971 with special contributions from the Federal Republic of Germany, OXFAM and the Jordan Development Bank. Over the years, many of the refugees have replaced these prefabs with more
