UNRWA aims to ensure a minimum standard of
nutrition and shelter for Palestine refugees and the Agency's Relief
and Social services programme supports the poorest refugee families
who are unable to meet their own basic needs. Almost 6 % of all
refugees receive special hardship assistance which comprises food,
cash assistance and shelter rehabilitation.

The Procurement and Logistics Division has purchased basic food
commodities (rice, flour, sugar, sunflower oil, pulses, whole milk) of
28,440 metric tons for the regular program and 65,789 metric
tons for the emergency program to support the Agency's Relief and Social
Services.
