The struggles and gains of fifty years of United Nations efforts to support Palestine refugees were vividly highlighted in the UNRWA 50 years commemoration photo exhibit, which was on display at UN Headquarters in New York throughout May 2000.

UN Secretary-General Mr. Kofi Annan and UNRWA Commissioner-General Mr. Peter Hansen opened the photo exhibit on 8 May 2000.

The exhibit, entitled "UNRWA and Palestine Refugees ... 50 Years", was produced by the Agency's public information office in HQ Gaza. The photos were also on view at the UNRWA Field Open Days in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Copies of the exhibit have since been on display in Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and Japan.

The five UNRWA Field commemoration quilts
were also displayed in the UN New York.
