Folkets Hus (Peoples' House),
Goteborg, Sweden

Around 200 people gathered at the Folkets Hus (Peoples' House) in Goteborg for the opening of the UNRWA photo exhibition. Eva Hammad, on behalf of the Folkets Hus Director Lennart Lundgren, opened the exhibit, which also featured four of the five UNRWA commemoration quilts.

The exhibit was coordinated by Eva Hammad and jointly hosted by the Folkets Hus, the Workers Association for Education and the Palestine Solidarity Association in Sweden.

Swedish actor Henric Holmberg read a selection of Mahmoud Darwish's poems in Swedish and Houda el-Masharrawi from Shatila refugee camp in Beirut read the poems in Arabic.

 

Mohammed Bitar from Bourj el-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut played the traditional oud at the opening.

Photographer Mia Grondahl (right) attended the opening of the exhibit and led a discussion on the situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. 

 

 

 

Thousands of people visited the exhibition during its two and a half months in Goteborg.
