  • The joint force to the Sudan will be the world’s largest peacekeeping operation and cost more than US$ 2 billion a year. It comprises 20,000 soldiers and 6,000 civilian police officers. It is hoped that deployment will begin in October 2007 and complete by the beginning of 2008. (The NY Times, 29 August 2007)
