The ESCWA library
was established in 1974 under Economic and Social Council Resolution
1818. It provides a specialized collection in the fields of economics
and social development. The
library's main function is to provide research, bibliographical
and reference services to library users in fields that relate to
the work programmes of ESCWA and the secretariat's other activities.
