By leveraging their ingenuity and creativity to harness new market opportunities, micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises can lead the way towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a senior United Nations official said today in remarks to a high-level meeting on the issue.
Even though more than 2.3 million fatalities and 300 million accidents resulting in injuries are estimated to occur in workplaces around the globe each year, the actual impact remains largely unknown, the United Nations International Labour Organization has warned, highlighting the need to “vastly” improve national occupational safety and health data (OSH).
The Secretary-General said he was particularly interested in the “alignment of the core business of the private sector with the strategic goals of the international community.”
