New global and regional population estimates and projections presented by the United Nations

What: Press briefing presenting the latest population estimates and projections: “World Population Prospects: The 2017 Revision”.

The report, published by the Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, provides a comprehensive review of worldwide demographic trends and prospects for the future. The information is essential to guide policies aimed at achieving the new Sustainable Development Goals. The data being presented include new estimates and projections of the size and characteristics of the world’s population from 1950 until 2100, along with updated information on levels and trends of fertility, life expectancy, and net migration at the global, regional and national levels.
