Noon Briefing with Wu Hongbo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, on the Global Sustainable Transport Conference

 

Recognizing that greener, more efficient and sustainable transport is crucial to fighting climate change and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has convened a global conference on sustainable transport, on 26 and 27 November 2016 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The Conference seeks to show the importance of sustainable transport in promoting economic and social development while protecting the environment.  Mr. Wu Hongbo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, will brief the media on the Conference, which is expected to culminate in a launch of partnerships, initiatives and commitments that will drive the implementation of a new global sustainable transport system.
