The Mobile Film Festival, now in its 11th edition, was the first of its kind to celebrate short films shot on mobile phones. It is dedicated to discovering, supporting and accompanying young directors by providing the opportunity for them to be part of a smart challenge based on a unique idea: 1 Mobile, 1 Minute, 1 Film.

This year’s Mobile Film Festival  theme focuses on  climate change ahead of the Climate Change Conference taking place in Paris in December.

Bruno Smadja, founder of Mobile Film Festival said: “We are very excited and honoured to be partnering with the United Nations for this very special and international edition.”

Participants from around the world are encouraged to create unique films in their own languages before submitting them via the Mobile Film Festival website before September 28.

“We want to give filmmakers from all over the world the chance to tell their story and their vision on Climate Change — all through the inexpensive use of a mobile phone. We give the opportunity to a generation of creators to be part of a huge and global event to express their vision through all genres of films.”

Of the entries, 100 films will be selected and an overall winner will receive a €30.000 grant, donated by BNP Paribas, with which to produce a film within a year.

Further prizes will be awarded in categories such as Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Audience Award at a screening event also in Paris on December 7th.

Last year 750 films were submitted to the competition and they received over 2.7 million viewings in just 3 weeks.
