CHANGING JOBS

Thinking about changing jobs or starting a new career? These can be exciting plans, but also stressful, especially if you are unhappy in your current position. Talking about your plans, goals and fears can help you move forward.

The Staff Counsellor's Office has short-term counseling available to help you sort out professional and personal issues. Under circumstances where direct assistance cannot be provided, referrals will be made to appropriate sources. This service is available to all UN system staff and is carried out in strict confidentiality. Areas of particular interest include counselling services, individual counseling and group counseling.

For more information, contact Dawn Straiton, Staff Counsellor, straiton@un.org, (212) 963-7044

In order to pursue further career options strategically and creatively, whether in New York, another duty station, a peacekeeping mission, or a UN fund, programme, or agency, you will need time to conduct some research. This will help you prepare yourself as a applicant in an effective way, and ensure that you are a competitive candidate.
