Personal Welfare : Violence, Harassment, and Suicide Prevention (for staff or security)


This workshop is designed to provide a general overview of high risk situations that can be encountered in the UN workplace, with a particular emphasis on how Security Services officers may confront these situations in the course of their duties. Issues related to harassment, workplace violence and suicide risk factors are presented, with typical workplace examples provided. The workshop will approach these high risk situations from a prevention perspective, identifying early warning signs and interventions that can be employed with the goal of avoiding workplace crises. 

Target Audience

This training is designed for all staff but special focus on managers, supervisors and security

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will identify examples of harassment in the UN workplace
  • Participants will identify warning signs of workplace violence
  • Participants will identify risk factors for suicide
  • Participants will examine effective early intervention strategies that can contain high risk situations from escalating into crisis situations
