CAREER DEVELOPMENT COURSES

Target audience

All UN Secretariat staff members and managers (individuals, intact teams, and specific groups of staff and managers)

Objectives

These courses:

  • Create understanding of the career development process and impart skills for effective career planning and development
  • Clarify the respective roles and responsibilities of staff, managers, and the Organization with respect to career planning and development

Creating Your Job Application / Personal History Profile E-Learning Course

Provides tips for successfully completing a Personal History Profile and how to apply through Inspira. The staff member will learn how to analyze his/her duties, achievements, and competencies against the job requirements and how to present them effectively in written format.

Competency-Based Interviewing for Applicants E-Learning Course

Provides tips on how to prepare for a job interview (verbal and non-verbal skills) with a particular emphasis on UN competency-based interviews and how to effectively present your skills, accomplishments and competencies to an interview panel.

To register for the first 2 you will first be required to complete the online course “Creating Your Job Application / Personal History Profile” or “Competency-Based Interviewing for Applicants”. Both courses are accessible through Inspira (“Learning Catalogue” > “Working for the UN” > “Career Guidance”).
