- 1974-1976 : Baccalauréat option philo-langues, Lycée de Badalabougou (Bamako);
- October 1976 - June 1980: Masters in Public International Law and International Relations, Department of Law and Economics, Dakar University, Senegal.

- African Union Summits: 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1994 and 1999;

- Member of Mali Delegation that established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea in 1990;
- Participated in government negotiations with the MFUA (Movements and Unified Fronts of the Azawad - ex Tuareg rebels) from November 1993 till the end of the process;
- 13-18 June 2004 : Member of the Mali delegation to UNCATD XI, Sao Paulo, Brazil;
- 24-31 January 2005 : African Union Summit, Abuja (Nigeria);
- 27-30 April 2005: Member of the Mali delegation to the 3rd Community of Democracies Conference, Santiago, Chile.
- 14-16 June 2005: Member of the Mali delegation to the Second South Summit, Doha, Qatar.
