Registration for the International Meeting

Below you will find information on how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other major groups can participate in the International Meeting to review the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States, to be held in Mauritius from 10-14 January 2005. Follow the links below for details on:

Information Briefing

The Secretariat will hold an informational briefing for major groups' participants to the International Meeting on Sunday, 9 January 2005 at (time and venue to be confirmed)

Inside the UN Conference Centre

Each registered NGO representative will receive one individual grounds pass to allow his or her access to the Conference Centre during the International Meeting. Representatives of NGOs and other major groups who have obtained a UN grounds pass for the International Meeting can leave the Conference Centre and re-enter at any time.

Access to plenary meetings will be open; however, entry into the Conference Centre or to a particular meeting room may need to be restricted on some days for crowd control purposes. These dates will be announced to participating NGOs and other major groups as early as possible, and a secondary pass system will be established.

A major groups room will be situated on the garden level floor of the Conference Centre, which will include a general meeting area, a copier and a few computers. The major groups' room can be reserved for caucus meetings, which will be scheduled through the UN Non-governmental Liaison Service (IUN-NGLS).

Participation

Preliminary draft information on possible entry points for major groups' participation in the International Meeting can be found here.

Major groups representatives are invited to work through issue-based caucuses, each major group sector and the regional networks, and identify representatives from each sector who wish to participate in a given session. Names of representatives should be communicated to the Secretariat at or prior to the morning's coordination meeting in the major groups room.

Civil Society Forum

A Civil Society Forum will be held from 6-9 January 2005 at the Freeport Exhibition Centre.
