The panel was chaired by H.E. Mr. Rachmat Witoelar, Minister of State for the
Environment of Indonesia; and moderated by H.E. Dame Pearlette Louisy, Governor-
General of Saint Lucia.
The following panellists made introductory statements: Mr. Philippe de la Hausse
Lalouviere, President of the Historical Society of Mauritius and Chairman of the
National Heritage Fund Board; Ms. Adi Meretui Ratunabuabua, Principal Cultural
Development Officer in the Deparmtent of Culture and Heritage at the Ministry of
Culture in Fiji; Mr. Ralph Regenvanu, Director of the Vanuatu Cultural Centre; Dr.
Keith Nurse, University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago; and Mr. Sydney
Bartley, Director of Culture at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture of Jamaica.
The Chairman and panellists held an interactive discussion on the topic with the
representatives of Cook Islands, France, Fiji, Mauritius, Jamaica, Barbados and
Morocco, as well as the representative of the Caribbean Development Bank.
The representatives of the following major groups also participated in the discussion:
Women and Children and Youth.
