Secretary-General's video message to Climate and Clean Air Coalition

Ban Ki-Moon, Former Secretary-General

Co-chairs, Champions and Partners of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition,
Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,

I am pleased to send greetings to this important meeting on the eve of Climate Summit.

You have built this Coalition from seven partners, only two-and-a-half years ago, to almost 100 today.

You are helping to accelerate political momentum on climate change and catalyze ambitious action on the ground.

You have translated scientific findings into concrete commitments with real benefits for the climate, public health and the environment.

You have enhanced collaboration across sectors to help ensure that industry transforms and reduces the production and emissions of short-lived climate pollutants.

The coalitions you have built among the private sector, finance, civil society, research and other institutions can help to build a new world of collaboration and high standards.

The results of your actions have an immediate impact: cleaner industries; cleaner engines and oil and gas production; cleaner recycling and waste processing; cleaner brick kilns and cookstoves; and cleaner urban air.

I very much look forward to your bold announcements at tomorrow’s Climate Summit.

The world counts on your continued efforts.

They can help put us on the pathway to limit global temperature rise to less than 2-degrees and improve the well-being of people everywhere.

I wish you a productive meeting.

Thank you.
