The Secretary-General met with Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.  The Secretary-General thanked Venezuela for its important international role as current member of the Security Council and Chair of the Special Committee on Decolonization (C24).  He also expressed appreciation for Venezuela’s role as an accompanying nation to the Colombia peace talks.

The Secretary-General and Foreign Minister Rodríguez discussed the border controversy between Venezuela and Guyana.

The Secretary-General and Foreign Minister Rodríguez also discussed the political situation in Venezuela. The Secretary-General expressed support for dialogue efforts between the Government and the opposition, under the auspices of UNASUR.

El Secretario General se reunió con Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, Canciller de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela. El Secretario General agradeció a Venezuela por el importante papel internacional que desarrolla como miembro del Consejo de Seguridad y por su rol como Presidente del Comité Especial de Descolonización (C24).  Asimismo, expresó su aprecio por el rol de Venezuela como país acompañante en el proceso de paz en Colombia.
