The Secretary-General met today with Mr. Denis Coderre, the Mayor of Montréal, Canada.  They discussed climate change and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the important role cities and local communities play in these two initiatives.

They also spoke about Montréal’s key role as a host for various international organizations, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialised agency of the United Nations.

The Secretary-General welcomed the Mayor’s efforts related to the preparations for the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, to be held in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 to 20 October 2016.
