Ban Ki-Moon, Former Secretary-General

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Yun Byung-se, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged views on the 6 January nuclear test and the 7 February launch using ballistic missile technology conducted by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Recalling his earlier statements, the Secretary-General noted that these were destabilising acts that violated Security Council resolutions and expressed his deep concern about the negative impact of these actions on regional stability and wider disarmament and non-proliferation objectives.

The Secretary-General thanked the Foreign Minister for Korea’s generous support of the United Nations humanitarian work, especially as it pertains to the Syrian crisis.

The Secretary-General also explained to the Foreign Minister about the importance of the upcoming World Humanitarian Summit.
