Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H. E. Mr. Tammam Salam, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon

The Secretary-General met today with H. E.  Mr. Tammam Salam, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon, and they discussed the ongoing impact of the Syrian conflict on Lebanon and welcomed the united international support for Lebanon’s security and stability.

The Secretary-General commended Prime Minister Salam for his leadership in the context of recent developments in Lebanon and reiterated his call for the early election of a President of the Republic.

The Secretary-General thanked Lebanon for its generous hospitality to refugees from Syria. They discussed the need for the international community to share the burden of assisting the refugee presence in Lebanon.
