The Secretary-General met today with H.E.Mr.  Abdelilah Benkirane, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Secretary-General thanked Morocco for its strong support to the United Nations-led mediation process in Libya and for the close cooperation extended by Morocco to the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Libya, Mr. Bernardino León. The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister agreed on the need to encourage Libyans to continue their engagement in political dialogue.

The Secretary-General also commended the resumption of the negotiating process on Western Sahara and the deployment of his Special Representative to Laayoune. As they discussed the next months ahead in this process, the Secretary-General noted the importance of making progress.
