Representatives of the 15 Member States of the United Nations Security Council will begin today a three day mission to Haiti, which will include visits to Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien. The trip will be co-led by the Permanent Representatives of the Missions of Chile and the United States.
With this mission, the Security Council looks to reaffirm its continued support for the Government and people of Haiti; to urge Haiti’s political actors to work cooperatively and without further delay to ensure the holding of free, fair, inclusive, and transparent legislative, partial senatorial, municipal, and local elections; to assess the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, including 2180, the increasing development of the capabilities of the Haitian State, in particular the ongoing strengthening of the Haitian National Police, and the national authorities´ increasing exercise of the Haitian State´s responsibility for the maintenance of stability and security in the country. The Security Council will also express its strong support for MINUSTAH and the Special Representative of the Secretary General, Ms. Sandra Honoré.
During their time in Haiti, the members of the Security Council will meet with President Martelly and high officials of the Government of Haiti, as well as representatives from the agencies, funds and programs of the United Nations working in Haiti and representatives from the troops and police contributors countries to MINUSTAH. They will also meet with political leaders and civil society.

VISITA DEL CONSEJO SEGURIDAD DE LA ONU A HAITÍ
23-25 enero 2015
Los representantes de los 15 Estados miembros del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas comenzarán una misión de tres días a Haití, que incluirá visitas a Puerto Príncipe y Cap-Haitien. La visita está dirigida por los Representantes Permanentes de las Misiones de Chile y de los Estados Unidos.
Con esta misión, el Consejo de Seguridad quiere reafirmar su continuo apoyo al Gobierno y al pueblo de Haití; instar a los actores políticos de Haití para trabajar cooperativamente y sin más demora para garantizar la celebración de elecciones legislativas, parciales senatoriales, municipales y locales, libres, justas, inclusivas y transparentes; evaluar la aplicación de las resoluciones pertinentes del Consejo de Seguridad, incluyendo 2180, el creciente desarrollo de las capacidades del Estado haitiano, en particular el fortalecimiento permanente de la Policía Nacional de Haití, y el aumento de ejercicio de las autoridades navionales en la responsabilidad del Estado Haitiano para el mantenimiento de la estabilidad y la seguridad en el país. El Consejo de Seguridad también expresara su firme apoyo a la MINUSTAH y a la Representante Especial del Secretario General, Sra. Sandra Honoré.
Durante su estancia en Haití, los miembros del Consejo de Seguridad se reunirán con el presidente Martelly y altos funcionarios del Gobierno de Haití, así como a representantes de los organismos, fondos y programas de las Naciones Unidas que trabajan en Haití y representantes de países que aportan contingentes a la MINUSTAH. También se reunirán con otros líderes políticos y la sociedad civil.
