The Secretary-General met today in Bamako with H. E. Mr. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, President of Mali. He expressed his appreciation for the swift and determined reaction by Malian authorities to imported cases of Ebola.

The Secretary-General and President Keïta agreed on the importance of remaining vigilant to the ongoing threat of Ebola in the region and of continuing to strengthen national systems’ preparedness.

The Secretary-General also reiterated his call for positive engagement by President Keïta and his Government in the Inter Malian dialogue. He stressed that sustainable peace in Mali is the only way to achieve sustainable development.
