The Secretary-General met today with Mr. Heinz Fischer, President of the Republic of Austria.

They discussed the situation in Syria and ongoing international efforts to confront ISIL. They also exchanged views on their expectations for the Climate Summit being held today. The Secretary-General outlined the UN response to the Ebola emergency and appealed to President Fischer to provide support for international efforts to urgently tackle this scourge. Finally, the Secretary-General thanked Austria for hosting the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which he will attend.
