The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Moncef Marzouki, President of the Republic of Tunisia. 

The Secretary-General commended Tunisia for the remarkable progress achieved in its transition process.  They discussed internal developments, including upcoming elections as well as the economic and security situation. The Secretary-General reiterated the United Nations’ support to the transition process in Tunisia.  

The two leaders focussed on the pressing need to stabilize the situation in Libya.  They discussed the importance of collective international action to deal both with climate change and the threat of extremism and terrorism.
