Readout of the Secretary-General’s telephone conversation with H.E. Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine

The Secretary-General spoke today with H.E. Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine.

The Secretary-General said he has continued to follow the crisis in Ukraine closely and with increasing concern. He reiterated the urgent need for redoubling political and diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful resolution. The Secretary-General also expressed the hope that there be tangible progress in implementing President Poroshenko’s peace plan.

Regarding the humanitarian situation, the Secretary-General offered the support of the United Nations, in coordination with international partners.
