Mr Sven Alkalaj will be leaving his position as Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva upon expiry of his contract on 8 April 2014. The Secretary-General wishes to thank Mr Alkalaj for his service to the United Nations and for his accomplishments, leadership and commitment towards the goals of the Economic Commission for Europe. The Secretary-General wishes Mr Alkalaj the best for his future endeavours.
