Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Edward Nalbandyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Edward Nalbandyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. They exchanged views on the critical situation of Syria, including the plight of Syrian refugees, thousands of whom have been received in Armenia. They welcomed yesterday’s adoption of the Security Council resolution related to the chemical weapons issue and stressed the importance of continued efforts to seek a political solution to the conflict. They also discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region, including the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. They further exchanged views on UN-Armenia cooperation, including in the area of human rights.
