Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Abubaker A. Al-Qirbi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Reconciliation of the Republic of Yemen

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Abubaker A. Al-Qirbi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Reconciliation of the Republic of Yemen. 

The Secretary-General and the Minister reviewed the current situation in Yemen, particularly in regard to the progress of Yemen’s transition process, as well as discussing the developments in the wider region. 

The Secretary-General welcomed President Hadi’s efforts to promote the National Dialogue Conference, restructure the military and restore security, as well as to build confidence in the South.  He reiterated the United Nations’ strong commitment to continue to support the transition process. 

The Secretary-General noted that now was time for all Yemeni sides to come together to ensure a successful outcome of the National Dialogue so as to move the transition process forward towards reforms that promote peace, stability and prosperity for all Yemeni people.
