Readout of the Secretary-General’s joint meeting with Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and H.E. Mr. Franciscus Cornelis Gerardus Maria Timmermans, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

The Secretary-General met today with Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and H.E. Mr. Franciscus Cornelis Gerardus Maria Timmermans, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.  They exchanged views on the situations in Syria and Mali, as well as the work and capabilities of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). 

The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for the Netherlands’ continued commitment to the global partnership for development and its support to the advancement of the responsibility to protect.  He also noted the leadership role of the Netherlands in the field of human rights.  Furthermore, they exchanged views on progress made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals and defining a post-2015 development agenda.
