Readout of Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Milo Ðukanovic, Prime Minister of Montenegro

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Milo Ðukanovic, Prime Minister of Montenegro. They discussed cooperation between the United Nations and Montenegro, including the country’s important contribution to United Nations’ peace operations as well as its role in the Human Rights Council. The Secretary-General underlined the commitment by the United Nations’ country team in Montenegro to continue to assist it in its reform process.

They also exchanged views on developments in the wider Western Balkans region, including in the ongoing dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, and the lack of progress in the “name” issue between the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Greece.

In addition, they discussed the Millennium Development Goals and the post-2015 development agenda, as well as the importance of action on climate change.
