The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland. They discussed the most recent efforts to find a political solution to the conflict in Syria. The Secretary-General and the President of Iceland also exchanged views on the ongoing efforts to address climate change, including the benefits of geothermal and other renewable energy sources. The Secretary-General encouraged Iceland in its commendable initiatives towards sharing experiences and innovative practices with countries around the world on clean energy, linking it to food security and improved livelihoods.
