Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud,
President of the Republic of Somalia

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Republic of Somalia.

They discussed latest political and security developments in Somalia, as well as the forthcoming deployment of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), as of 3 June.

The Secretary-General emphasized the commitment of the United Nations to continue its strong support to peace building in Somalia, including through good offices and by helping to coordinate international support. He emphasized that humanitarian assistance will continue to be delivered to those in need.
