Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands

The Secretary-General met today with Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. He expressed his warmest congratulations to the Queen and her husband, King Willem-Alexander, for their recent investiture as King and Queen of the Netherlands.
In light of her work as the Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, the Secretary-General and the Queen discussed the issue of inclusive finance, as well as the ongoing efforts to define the post-2015 development framework, concurring on the importance of inclusive finance and financing for development in relation to the future development agenda. The Secretary-General and the Queen also discussed the challenge of achieving the Millennium Development Goals by 2015, as well as the important task ahead of setting Sustainable Development Goals for the global community.

The Secretary-General also expressed his deepest appreciation for the continued commitment and dedication of Queen Máxima to advancing the development agenda.
