Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Raymond Tshibanda N'Tungamulongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Raymond Tshibanda N'Tungamulongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He also spoke to H.E. Mr. Joseph Kabila Kabange, President of the DRC earlier in the day. The Secretary-General and the Minister discussed the fragile security and humanitarian situation in eastern DRC. They welcomed the recent transfer of Bosco Ntaganda to the International Criminal Court and also discussed the implementation of the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework. They agreed that the upcoming Security Council resolution on the DRC should strengthen the UN Mission Organization Stabilization Mission (MONUSCO)'s role and endorse the Secretary-General's comprehensive approach to addressing the root causes of instability in the Great Lakes region.
