The Secretary-General today met with H. E. Mr. Oqil Oqilov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Secretary-General thanked the Prime Minister for his country’s lead role in the designation of 2013 as the International Year of Water Cooperation. They discussed today’s High-Level Interactive Dialogue of the General Assembly on Water Cooperation and the upcoming High-Level Conference on Water Cooperation that will be hosted by Tajikistan in August 2013. In addition, they discussed issues including the Roghun hydropower station and disaster response and risk reduction in Central Asia.
