The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Jean Ping, outgoing Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
The Secretary-General commended Mr. Ping for his stewardship and leadership at the helm of the AU over the last four years.
They discussed the positive developments in Somalia, and the Sudan/South Sudan negotiations. They also discussed the need for a broad approach to the complex crisis in Mali and the Sahel.  
The Secretary-General thanked Mr. Ping for his support to the work of the UN.
The Secretary-General wished Mr. Ping success in his future endeavors.
